Are Bump Stocks Illegal

Are bump stocks illegal? Well, not anymore!

On Friday June 14th, 2024 the Supreme Court of the United States struck down a federal ban on “bump stocks” that was put in place by President Donald J. Trump.

The ban was originally put in place in 2019 after the use of a “bump stock” in the 2019 Las Vegas shooting. This crime took place at a country music festival where tragically 58 people lost their lives.

The ban was originally challenged by Michael Cargill a gun shop owner in Austin, Texas.

The Supreme Court holds that bump stocks do not make a semi-automatic weapon a machine gun because no more than one round is fired per trigger pull.

Please note that gun laws are constantly changing so do your due diligence before making a purchase.
